1. Who we are
The Mysuru Bar Association (R) (“the Association”) runs this website, the member portal, the office panel and the MBA Members app. This policy explains what personal data we hold, why, and the choices you have. It is written with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 in mind.
2. What we hold
- Membership record: name, father's/husband's name, date of birth, gender, blood group, photograph, mobile number, email ID, residential and office address, Bar Council (KBC) enrolment number and date, membership type and number, joining date, areas of practice, courts of practice, qualifications, and documents the office keeps on your file.
- Death Relief Fund: your nominee's name, relationship and contact number.
- Payments: amounts, dates, receipt numbers, payment mode and PayU transaction references. We never receive your card, UPI PIN or bank credentials — PayU handles them.
- Sign-in and security: your email ID for one-time passwords, sign-in session cookies, the name of the device the app is signed in on, IP addresses and a log of important actions, used to keep accounts secure.
- Office staff: name, email, role and an audit trail of actions taken in the office panel.
3. Why we use it
- To maintain the Association's membership register and your membership status.
- To work out dues, take payments and issue receipts, and to administer the Death Relief Fund (including paying nominees).
- To sign you in with one-time passwords.
- To send receipts, dues reminders, circulars and notices by email and in the app.
- To show the member directory — limited to the details you choose to make public.
- For accounts and audit, and to meet legal obligations.
4. Your public profile
Your name and MBA number are always shown in the member directory. Other details — such as mobile number, email, office address, areas of practice and courts — appear only if you switch them on in My Profile → Public Profile, and only for the fields the office allows. You can change these switches at any time and they apply immediately.
5. Who we share it with
- PayU, to process online payments (your name, email, mobile number and the amount).
- Our email provider, to deliver one-time passwords, receipts and notices, and our hosting provider, which stores the data.
- The Association's auditors, for the accounts.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.
6. Cookies and app storage
This website uses no cookies. The member portal uses only essential cookies — to keep you signed in and to protect forms. The mobile app keeps its sign-in token in your phone's secure storage. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
7. How long we keep it
- Membership records are kept for as long as you are a member and afterwards as part of the Association's permanent register.
- Payment records and receipts are kept for at least eight years, as required for accounts.
- One-time passwords expire within minutes; security logs are kept only as long as needed.
8. Security
Sign-in is by one-time password, data travels over HTTPS, office staff can see only what their role allows, and important actions are recorded in an audit trail.
9. Your rights
- See your details in My Profile, and ask for corrections there (the office reviews them) or at the office.
- Choose what is public in your directory profile.
- Ask the Association about how your data is used, ask for your account to be deleted, or raise a grievance, using the contact details below.
10. Children
The Services are meant for advocates and Association staff and are not intended for children.
11. Changes
We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version.
